KA’s® Tiny E Dahlia

Tiny name. Not-so-tiny plant. Award-winning attitude. KA’s® Tiny E cranks out glowing fuchsia 3.5-inch blooms with the kind of uniform Formal Decorative form that earned it one of the American Dahlia Society’s top honors.

KA’s® Tiny E is a 2026 introduction hybridized by Kristine Albrecht of Santa Cruz Dahlias in Santa Cruz, California, United States.

And yes, before anybody asks—the name does have a story.

Kristine named Tiny E after a favorite niece she cared for when the niece was little.

The flower, however, apparently declined to stay tiny.

Plants reach approximately 4.5 feet tall and produce loads of uniform, approximately 3.5-inch blooms in a glowing fuchsia palette. The flowers have the clean, organized structure of a Miniature Formal Decorative, creating a bright, polished bloom with enough color to get noticed without needing dinnerplate proportions to do it.

But Tiny E isn't just pretty.

This one has receipts.

KA’s® Tiny E was evaluated in accredited American Dahlia Society trial gardens and won the 2025 Derrill W. Hart Medal for its category. ADS classifies it as 4008 — Miniature Formal Decorative, Light Blend.

That's not seller hype.

That's the dahlia equivalent of showing up with the trophy already in the truck.

Tiny E is also reported to be a serious producer, with loads of uniform blooms and excellent usefulness in the cutting garden. That combination of consistent form, bright color, strong production, and manageable 3.5-inch flowers makes it the kind of dahlia that's useful whether you're growing for bouquets, the garden, or simply because collecting award-winning Kristine Albrecht introductions has somehow become a perfectly reasonable life choice.

We've all made worse decisions.

Moose’s Take

Tiny E may have one of my favorite naming contradictions in the KA’s lineup.

Tiny?

The plant gets around 4.5 feet tall.

That's roughly the botanical equivalent of naming a linebacker “Peanut.”

But what really gets my attention isn't the joke hiding in the name. It's that this variety actually went through the American Dahlia Society trial gardens and came out with the Derrill W. Hart Medal.

That matters.

There are a lot of gorgeous new dahlias released every year, and plenty of them photograph beautifully. Tiny E was actually evaluated across accredited trial gardens and earned its award on performance and form.

Then you add the cutting-garden side of the equation.

The blooms are about 3.5 inches—an extremely useful size—and growers report loads of uniform flowers. That's the kind of dahlia I want: one that looks good, performs, and doesn't spend the entire season producing three masterpieces and then asking for a sabbatical.

The color doesn't hurt either.

Glowing fuchsia is not exactly shy, but Tiny E manages to keep that bright color wrapped in a tidy, refined Formal Decorative package.

Basically, she's the small niece who grew up, won a trophy, and now runs the entire flower bucket.

The Moose respects that kind of career trajectory.
