Some dahlias have a pedigree. Bea Paradise has a love story.
Introduced in 2003, Bea Paradise was bred in San Francisco, California, by respected American hybridizer Lou Paradise. Its name wasn't dreamed up by a marketing department or pulled from a list—it was personal. Lou named Bea Paradise for his adoptive mother, Bea, one of two dahlias he named in honor of the women he called mother.
Bea Paradise is a Waterlily dahlia with approximately 3½-inch blooms floating above plants that reach about 36–40 inches tall in our field. Its softly cupped petals create the open, graceful silhouette that makes Waterlily dahlias so distinctive. Officially classified as a Light Blend, the blooms mingle soft lavender and purple tones with creamy white, creating a cool, luminous flower that seems to change subtly as you look across the petals. The Dahlia Society of California's own photographs show that characteristic light-purple-and-white coloring.
This isn't just an obscure old variety we've dragged out of the dahlia history books, either. Bea Paradise was selected as the Dahlia Society of California's 2006 Flower of the Year, and years later it was still appearing successfully in Pacific Southwest Dahlia Conference Waterlily competition.
For collectors, that history makes Bea Paradise especially interesting: an American-bred Waterlily with a documented connection to its breeder, his family, and the San Francisco dahlia community where it originated.
Moose's Take: A beautiful flower named after your mother is already pretty hard to beat. Make it a hard-to-find lavender Waterlily with more than two decades of history behind it, and suddenly I've got another perfectly reasonable explanation for why we needed one more dahlia. You're welcome.

Rooted cuttings ship April 1 – May 15 via UPS 2nd Day Air. Orders are shipped when plants are ready and weather conditions are appropriate for safe travel. Because of the volume of orders we process during shipping season, orders cannot be combined. You’ll receive tracking information when your order ships.

You’ll receive a healthy, actively growing rooted dahlia cutting that has been professionally propagated and grown by Dapper Dahlias By Moose.
Once fully rooted, the plant is removed from its growing container with the rooted propagation plug intact, then carefully bagged and packed for shipping. Your cutting will arrive ready to be potted up or planted after appropriate acclimation.
Because these are live plants, size and appearance will naturally vary from plant to plant.

When your cutting arrives, open the package promptly and inspect the plant. Any concerns with your order must be reported within 3 days of delivery and include photos.
Rooted cuttings have been grown in protected greenhouse conditions and will need to be gradually acclimated to outdoor conditions before planting outside.
