Bloomquist Innate Dahlia
Soft pink petals, delicate peach undertones, and beautifully ruffled blooms make Bloomquist Innate a romantic addition to the cutting garden. Developed through Paul Bloomquist's American dahlia breeding program, this Small Informal Decorative variety combines graceful coloring with an impressive garden presence.
Some dahlias command attention with outrageous colors. Others manage to steal the show without making nearly as much noise.
Bloomquist Innate belongs to that second group.
Developed through the Bloomquist breeding program in Lynden, Washington, this lovely dahlia produces softly ruffled, Informal Decorative flowers in shades of pink, sometimes displaying subtle peach undertones that bring additional warmth to the blooms.
The petals have the relaxed, flowing arrangement characteristic of Informal Decorative dahlias, creating flowers that feel romantic and natural rather than perfectly symmetrical.
Bloomquist Innate is generally classified as a Small (BB) Informal Decorative, a category associated with blooms approximately 4–6 inches across. However, some growers report flowers closer to 3½ inches, so actual bloom size may vary with growing conditions.
And don't let the delicate coloring fool you into thinking this is a little plant.
Bloomquist Innate can reach approximately six feet tall, making it a substantial presence in the garden. Give it room to grow and provide sturdy support to protect the developing stems and flowers throughout the season.
The gentle pink coloring makes Bloomquist Innate especially appealing for romantic garden designs and floral arrangements. Pair it with creamy whites and soft lavenders for a classic combination, or bring in peach, apricot, and deeper rose-colored dahlias for a warmer, more colorful arrangement.
Growers have recommended Bloomquist Innate for cut-flower arrangements, although specific information about its stem strength, productivity, and vase life remains limited.
For gardeners who appreciate soft colors, beautifully relaxed flower forms, and the legacy of American dahlia breeding, Bloomquist Innate is a variety well worth considering.

Moose's Take
There's something about the name Bloomquist Innate that makes this flower sound like it ought to be exceptionally intelligent.
Maybe it's the word innate. Sounds like something a college professor would say while explaining why I'm doing something wrong.
But this dahlia doesn't need a fancy vocabulary to make an impression.
I like the soft pink coloring, the slightly relaxed petals, and the fact that it comes from a breeding program with a long history of producing beautiful dahlias.
And at approximately six feet tall, it's certainly not going to be shy about showing up in the garden.
A flower that's pretty, tall, and apparently gifted from birth?
Great. Now even my dahlias are making me feel underqualified.
