Florelie Flamingo Dahlia

Rooted Cutting • Ships April 1–May 15

Some flamingos stand on one leg. This one stands six feet tall and brings enough flowers for the whole flock.

Florelie Flamingo is a spectacular Australian miniature decorative dahlia featuring warm pink blooms that shift toward soft peach throughout the growing season. With exceptional flower production, long cutting stems, and towering plants, this is one flamingo that has absolutely no intention of blending into the background.

A Flamingo That Earns Its Keep

Bred by Lorelie Merton at Florelie in Victoria, Australia, Florelie Flamingo was introduced in 2025 after years of evaluation. And while its beautiful coloring is enough to turn heads, its productivity is what really makes this variety special.

The flowers range from warm, flamingo pink to softer peach tones as the season progresses, bringing a beautiful range of complementary colors to bouquets and arrangements. Its miniature decorative form makes it particularly useful for floral work, where smaller blooms can add color and texture without overwhelming an arrangement.

But Flamingo isn't just a pretty face.

During Florelie's 2025 growing season, this variety ranked among the tallest plants on the farm, with some exceeding six feet. Even more impressive, the breeder reported that these towering plants remained stable in the field without additional support.

The flowers are carried on long, straight, surprisingly strong stems that are slender enough to be particularly useful for cutting and arranging.

And then there's the productivity.

Florelie reported that Flamingo was among its top-performing field varieties in 2025, producing abundant harvests consistently throughout the season. The breeder specifically recommends it for commercial cut-flower production, which says quite a bit about a variety that also happens to be gorgeous.

For home gardeners who love bringing armloads of flowers indoors, and for flower farmers looking for dependable production, Florelie Flamingo offers a compelling combination of beauty and performance.

Moose's Take

I've seen plenty of dahlias that are pretty enough to make you stop and stare. But when a breeder tells me a variety grows six feet tall, produces buckets of flowers, and has stems that actually cooperate with a pair of cutting shears, now you've got my attention.

Florelie Flamingo looks like the kind of dahlia that could earn its keep in a serious cutting garden while still being beautiful enough to steal the show.

Just remember, if it reaches six feet tall, that's not a flower bed anymore. That's flamingo country.
