Florelie Pendulum Dahlia
Florelie Pendulum apparently decided that being a beautiful dahlia wasn’t enough. It also needed to be productive, fabulous in a vase, and just dramatic enough to make the other flowers question their life choices.
Bred by Lorelie Merton of Florelie Flower Farm in Australia, Pendulum produces charming, miniature decorative blooms in rich shades of dark red and burgundy, often showing beautiful magenta undertones. Its saturated coloring gives it a wonderfully moody personality without disappearing into the nearly black tones of some darker dahlias.
With blooms measuring approximately 2–3 inches across, Pendulum brings plenty of personality without taking over the entire arrangement. Its smaller flowers are especially useful for adding rich color, texture, and contrast to bouquets while playing nicely with their larger, more attention-seeking relatives.
But Pendulum isn’t just another pretty face in the flower patch.
The breeder describes it as a productive variety with long, slender, straight stems and excellent cut-flower potential. That combination of smaller blooms and usable cutting stems makes it a particularly appealing choice for flower farmers, floral designers, and gardeners who believe there’s no such thing as having too many dahlias in the house.
Whether you’re building a dramatic burgundy arrangement, mixing romantic berry tones, or simply looking for another excuse to bring flowers indoors, Florelie Pendulum has plenty to offer.

Moose’s Take
Some dahlias are all show and no work. Florelie Pendulum apparently missed that memo.
Beautiful burgundy blooms, lovely cutting stems, and a willingness to keep producing? That’s the kind of employee I’d hire for the flower field.
And unlike most employees, it actually looks better after spending the day in a bucket.
