Florelie Vendetta Dahlia
A striking true-red Australian dahlia with densely packed petals, sturdy flowers, and impressive late-season performance. Florelie Vendetta is a miniature decorative that holds its centers beautifully as the season progresses.
With a name like Vendetta, you’d expect somebody to be settling a score. Fortunately, this Australian beauty prefers to make its point with flowers.
Introduced in 2025 by Lorelie Merton of Florelie in Australia, Florelie Vendetta produces true-red, miniature decorative blooms with an exceptionally high petal count.
One of Vendetta’s most interesting characteristics is how its flowers develop through the season. Early blooms may display a small green eye because of the abundance of petals. As the season progresses, that green eye disappears, and the flowers retain their centers later than many other varieties.
That’s a particularly valuable characteristic for gardeners and cut-flower growers who want attractive blooms continuing into the latter part of the season.
The breeder describes Vendetta’s flowers as sturdy, held at a favorable angle for harvesting, and possessing great vase life. These qualities make it a promising choice for bouquets and floral arrangements, particularly when rich red color is needed.
Plants reach approximately 4 feet tall under the breeder’s growing conditions, although mature height will vary with climate and cultural practices.
Whether you’re growing for your own enjoyment or harvesting flowers for arrangements, Vendetta offers an appealing combination of saturated red color, attractive flower form, and late-season cutting potential.

Moose’s Take
I’ve got a soft spot for dahlias that save some of their best work for the end of the season. By then, a few varieties have started acting like they’ve already packed the truck and gone home.
Vendetta apparently didn’t get that memo.
The breeder’s reports of sturdy flowers, good cutting angles, and excellent center retention make this a red dahlia I’m particularly interested in growing.
And if it really does settle a few scores with those disappointing late-season blooms, I’m not about to get in its way.
