A delicate waterlily dahlia that looks like it stepped straight out of a ballet performance—soft, graceful, and quietly elegant.
Full Description
Henk’s Ballerina is a refined Waterlily dahlia believed to originate from the Netherlands, where many of the world’s most elegant waterlily forms have been developed. The blooms measure roughly 2–4 inches across, forming the classic layered, floating shape that makes waterlily dahlias so distinctive.
The color is part of this variety’s charm. Growers most often describe the petals as soft white with gentle lilac-pink tips, creating a subtle two-tone effect that shifts slightly depending on light and bloom maturity. Some registry databases place it in the bronze/light blend category, which reflects the warm undertones that can appear as the bloom develops.
Plants typically reach about 3–3½ feet tall, producing tidy plants that are easy to manage in both garden beds and cutting gardens. The neat plant habit paired with the graceful bloom form gives Henk’s Ballerina a very polished look in the landscape.
This variety is loved for its elegant flower form and soft romantic coloring, making it especially attractive in bouquets and pastel-toned garden designs. The bloom shape almost looks like it’s hovering above the foliage—light, balanced, and perfectly named for a flower that really does resemble a tiny ballerina in mid-spin.
