KA’s® Rose Quartz Dahlia

Rose-pink petals. A deeper center. Tiny flashes of white that make the whole bloom sparkle. KA’s® Rose Quartz apparently heard “named after a gemstone” and decided subtlety was no longer legally required.

KA’s® Rose Quartz is a 2026 introduction hybridized by Kristine Albrecht of Santa Cruz Dahlias in California, United States.

And this one has presence.

The approximately 5-inch Formal Decorative blooms open in a beautiful medium rose-pink, building into a darker, tightly formed center. But look closely at those center petals and you'll see what really separates Rose Quartz from another pretty pink dahlia: each carries a white highlight that creates a distinctive sparkling effect across the heart of the flower.

It's a little detail with a surprisingly big impact.

From a distance, Rose Quartz is a gorgeous pink dahlia.

Up close, somebody apparently bedazzled the center.

Plants grow to approximately 5 feet tall, giving this variety enough stature to produce substantial stems and flowers with real visual presence. The 5-inch blooms hit a particularly useful middle ground—large enough to command attention without becoming so enormous that one flower takes over the entire arrangement and starts demanding its own dressing room.

Rose Quartz was selected with floral design in mind. Its blooms are useful as bouquet accents, while their size and visual impact also make them particularly well suited to larger floral work such as arches and installations.

That combination of scale, form, and distinctive coloring gives KA’s® Rose Quartz something many pink dahlias don't have:

A very good reason to stare at it twice.

Moose’s Take

I'll admit it: the name Rose Quartz had me expecting another pretty pink dahlia.

And there's absolutely nothing wrong with pretty pink dahlias. I grow enough of them to qualify as an enabler.

But this one has a trick.

It's those little white highlights buried through the darker center.

You can look at the flower from a distance and think, “Yep, gorgeous pink dahlia.” Then you get closer and suddenly the center starts catching your eye because those white-tipped details make the whole thing look like it's sparkling.

That's cool.

And I really like the size.

Five inches is substantial enough to make Rose Quartz useful when you need some visual horsepower in an arrangement, but it hasn't crossed into the territory where you put one bloom in a vase and technically have a centerpiece.

Add a plant that grows around 5 feet tall, and this feels like a dahlia with some presence.

For me, though, the reason to grow Rose Quartz is that center. There are a bazillion beautiful pink dahlias in this world. If I'm giving another one valuable real estate, I want it to bring something different to the party.

Rose Quartz brought its own disco ball.

The Moose approves.
