KA’s® Linen Dahlia

Some dahlias are unusual. KA’s® Linen apparently took that as a personal challenge.

A 2026 introduction bred by Kristine Albrecht of Santa Cruz Dahlias in California, KA’s® Linen is a true novelty with approximately 4-inch blooms on compact plants reaching around 3 feet tall.

The flowers are soft and wonderfully strange—creamy petals traced with subtle pink striping in a form that doesn't neatly fit the usual dahlia categories. The coloring is quiet and elegant, while the flower itself clearly has other plans.

Because Linen goes to bed.

The blooms actually close in the evening and reopen the following morning. Even more remarkably, that behavior can continue after the flowers are cut and placed in an arrangement.

Apparently nobody informed the flower that leaving the plant meant its shift was over.

Linen is also a heavy bloomer, so you'll have plenty of opportunities to watch the performance. Its shorter stature—around 3 feet—makes it an especially interesting addition for growers wanting something distinctive without adding another five-foot dahlia that requires its own air-traffic controller.

Moose’s Take

Most dahlias stay open until they're finished.

KA’s® Linen apparently has business hours.

Every evening it closes up shop, goes to bed, and reports back for duty the next morning—even after you cut it.

The Moose respects boundaries.

Frankly, I could learn something from this flower.

Shipping & Delivery

Rooted cuttings ship April 1 – May 15 via UPS 2nd Day Air. Orders are shipped when plants are ready and weather conditions are appropriate for safe travel. Because of the volume of orders we process during shipping season, orders cannot be combined. You’ll receive tracking information when your order ships.

What You'll Receive

You’ll receive a healthy, actively growing rooted dahlia cutting that has been professionally propagated and grown by Dapper Dahlias By Moose.

Once fully rooted, the plant is removed from its growing container with the rooted propagation plug intact, then carefully bagged and packed for shipping. Your cutting will arrive ready to be potted up or planted after appropriate acclimation.

Because these are live plants, size and appearance will naturally vary from plant to plant.

Before You Order

Please review our Terms & Conditions before ordering. Because we grow live plants specifically for the shipping season, orders cannot be canceled or combined.

When your cutting arrives, open the package promptly and inspect the plant. Any concerns with your order must be reported within 3 days of delivery and include photos.

Rooted cuttings have been grown in protected greenhouse conditions and will need to be gradually acclimated to outdoor conditions before planting outside.

By placing an order, you agree to our Terms & Conditions.
