KA’s® Whisper Dahlia
So soft they named it Whisper. So gorgeous they apparently called it “OMG” before that. KA’s® Whisper wraps approximately 4-inch Formal Decorative blooms in the palest peach tones imaginable—and then backs up the pretty face with serious flower production and long, strong cutting stems.
KA’s® Whisper is a 2026 introduction hybridized by Kristine Albrecht of Santa Cruz Dahlias in Santa Cruz, California, United States.
And apparently this flower caused a minor naming crisis.
Before it officially became Whisper, the selection was reportedly being called “OMG” because everyone growing it kept having roughly the same reaction.
Understandable.
The approximately 4-inch Formal Decorative blooms come in an exceptionally soft peach—delicate, warm, and muted enough to slide beautifully into cream, blush, coral, pink, and other warm-toned arrangements.
This isn't screaming orange.
This isn't neon peach.
It's the kind of peach that politely clears its throat from across the garden and somehow still gets your attention.
But Whisper isn't surviving on looks alone.
Plants grow approximately 4–4.5 feet tall and are reported to be highly productive, producing flowers on long, strong stems that make this variety particularly useful for cutting. Independent growers have also reported excellent production and exceptional stem length, reinforcing its value as more than just another beautiful new introduction.
That's an awfully useful combination:
Soft color.
Practical bloom size.
Long stems.
Heavy production.
Basically, Whisper showed up speaking quietly and then proceeded to dominate the flower bucket.

Moose’s Take
I like a dahlia with a little irony built in.
Whisper sounds delicate. Quiet. Reserved.
Then you look at the plant and apparently it has no intention whatsoever of quietly producing flowers.
That's the part I like.
The color is beautiful—probably one of the softest peaches in the KA’s lineup—but what really gets my attention is the plant behind it. Long, strong stems and heavy production are exactly the traits I want when I'm deciding whether a pretty flower actually deserves space in the cutting garden.
And the 4-inch bloom size is right in that useful sweet spot. Big enough to matter, small enough that you can actually build an arrangement around it without the flower demanding its own structural engineer.
The whole “OMG” nickname makes perfect sense too.
Usually when somebody says, “You have to see this peach dahlia,” my brain responds with, “Wonderful. Peach dahlia number 847.”
Whisper actually brings something different.
It's soft without washing out, productive without needing a billboard, and elegant without looking like it's trying too hard.
Apparently the quiet ones really are the dangerous ones.
The Moose approves.
