KA's Lavender Blush Dahlia

Big, beautiful, and dressed in soft lavender and blush pink, KA's Lavender Blush is a spectacular dinnerplate dahlia that brings serious flower power without sacrificing elegance.

Some dahlias are pretty. Others are impressive. KA's Lavender Blush manages to be both, producing enormous, softly ruffled blooms in a dreamy combination of lavender, blush pink, and creamy white.

Bred by Kristine Albrecht of Santa Cruz Dahlias in California and introduced in 2024, KA's Lavender Blush is a Large Informal Decorative dahlia with flowers measuring approximately 8–10 inches across. Its broad, loosely arranged petals twist and curl into magnificent, oversized blooms with a wonderfully romantic appearance.

The coloring is particularly beautiful. Soft lavender and delicate blush-pink petals blend with creamy-white highlights, sometimes revealing warmer, buttery tones toward the center. The result is a sophisticated pastel combination that makes this variety especially appealing for weddings, floral arrangements, and gardens where a little elegance goes a long way.

But KA's Lavender Blush has more going for it than good looks.

While some dinnerplate dahlias seem determined to produce one enormous flower and then take the rest of the summer off, Lavender Blush has earned praise from growers for its impressive productivity. Plants typically reach approximately 4–4½ feet tall, producing abundant oversized blooms throughout the growing season.

Growers have also reported strong stems capable of supporting its substantial flowers, making Lavender Blush a particularly attractive choice for floral designers looking for dramatic focal flowers. One Northern California grower even reported excellent production during periods of extreme summer heat.

For florists, the combination of romantic coloring, impressive flower size, and productive plants makes KA's Lavender Blush a compelling variety for large arrangements, statement bouquets, and wedding work.

In the garden, those enormous lavender-blush flowers create an unforgettable display, adding soft color and spectacular scale to borders and cutting gardens alike.

Whether you're growing dahlias for the flower market, creating beautiful wedding arrangements, or simply want a showstopping dinnerplate dahlia in your own garden, KA's Lavender Blush delivers the kind of blooms that are impossible to overlook.

Moose's Take

There are dinnerplate dahlias, and then there are dinnerplate dahlias that make you wonder whether you should have brought a bigger vase.

KA's Lavender Blush definitely falls into the second category.

What catches my attention isn't just the enormous 8–10-inch flowers, although that's certainly hard to ignore. It's the combination of those soft lavender and blush-pink colors with reports of genuinely impressive productivity.

Big flowers are wonderful, but big flowers on a plant that actually keeps producing? Now we're talking.

I also love the fact that growers have reported strong stems. Anyone who's worked with oversized dahlias knows that a beautiful bloom isn't much good to a florist if the stem underneath it has the structural integrity of a wet noodle.

And those colors are practically made for wedding work. Soft lavender, blush pink, creamy white — the whole combination looks like it belongs in a bridal bouquet.

If you're looking for a large American-bred dahlia with romantic coloring, spectacular dinnerplate blooms, and excellent potential for cut-flower production, KA's Lavender Blush deserves serious consideration.
