KA's Rhubarb Dahlia
Rooted Cutting • Ships April 1–May 15
A little custard, a little cranberry, and a whole lot of personality. KA's Rhubarb is proof that the best color combinations aren't always found in the dessert aisle.
Beautiful From Every Angle
Some dahlias make their statement with brilliant, in-your-face color. KA's Rhubarb takes a more sophisticated approach.
This gorgeous American-bred dahlia features creamy, pale custard-colored petals with delicate cranberry coloring on their reverse sides. The result is a beautifully layered, two-toned flower that offers something different depending on how the light catches it and which direction you're looking.
With approximately 4.5-inch blooms and a beautifully organized formal decorative form, KA's Rhubarb has the kind of refined appearance that works equally well in the garden or a carefully arranged bouquet.
But there's more to this one than unusual coloring.
Growing approximately five feet tall, KA's Rhubarb produces a steady supply of flowers carried on strong stems. That combination makes it an appealing choice for gardeners who enjoy cutting fresh flowers and flower farmers looking for interesting colors to incorporate into their arrangements.
Its creamy tones blend beautifully with other flowers, while those cranberry accents bring warmth and depth to autumn-inspired bouquets. Pair it with peaches, bronzes, burgundies, and soft neutrals, and you've got the makings of something pretty spectacular.
Introduced in 2025 by renowned American dahlia hybridizer Kristine Albrecht, KA's Rhubarb is another example of the interesting colors and distinctive flowers coming from the Santa Cruz Dahlias breeding program.

Moose's Take
I'll admit, when somebody names a dahlia Rhubarb, my first thought is pie. And when the flower turns out to be custard-colored with cranberry accents, well, now I'm wondering whether somebody was hungry when they named it.
But jokes aside, this is exactly the kind of color combination I appreciate in a dahlia. It's different without being obnoxious, interesting without needing to shout, and versatile enough to play nicely with a whole lot of other flowers.
And at 4.5 inches, with strong stems and steady production, there's plenty here to like beyond the color.
Now, somebody pass the vanilla ice cream.
