LR1923 is a little bit mystery, a whole lot of blush pink, and exactly the sort of dahlia that makes the Moose willing to tolerate unanswered questions.
Bred by Amandine Hall of Long Road Flower Farm on Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, LR1923 is currently known by its breeder code rather than a confirmed released cultivar name.
The blooms are wonderfully full and substantial, opening in layers of soft blush and dusty pink with deeper rosy-pink coloring toward the center. Depending on the light and stage of the bloom, the color can shift noticeably—sometimes appearing pale and romantic, other times taking on smokier mauve, peach, and muted rose tones.
Its broad outer petals transition into a much tighter, densely packed center, giving the flower the lush appearance of a Decorative-type dahlia. Because we have not located an official classification from the breeder or ADS, we're leaving the formal classification open rather than pretending the Moose has suddenly been appointed Chief Dahlia Judge.
LR1923 is still something of a mystery. We have confirmed its connection to Amandine Hall and Long Road Flower Farm, but we have not found published information establishing its introduction year, parentage, official classification, or whether it has subsequently received another name.
And frankly, that's part of the fun.

Moose’s Take
LR1923 doesn't have a proper name, a résumé, or apparently any interest in explaining itself.
It just showed up looking fabulous.
