Mellum Nina Dahlia from Tissue Cultured Stock

Some dahlias demand attention by being loud. Mellum Nina apparently decided being ridiculously pretty would work just as well.

Bred in Queensland, Australia by Theo Beenders, Mellum Nina is a gorgeous Miniature Decorative with beautifully layered blooms in shades of pink, blush and soft lilac-pink. As the flowers mature, the color can soften and develop paler, creamy tones, giving the blooms a slightly different personality depending on when you catch them.

Flowers typically measure around 4–5 inches across, packing an impressive number of petals into a wonderfully rounded bloom. The broader outer petals gradually transition into tighter, curled petals toward the center, creating the wonderfully tidy—but not too tidy—look that makes Nina so darn photogenic.

Australian growers praise Mellum Nina for strong stems, prolific flowering and its usefulness as a cut flower. Plants generally reach around 4 feet tall, although growing conditions can push them shorter or taller.

And yes, those colors really do look like that. Ours produced saturated bubblegum and lilac-pinks with lighter edges and subtle variations from bloom to bloom. Apparently Nina didn't get the memo that pink was supposed to be just one color.

There are pink dahlias, and then there are dahlias that make you wonder exactly how many different shades of pink Mother Nature had left in the paint cabinet. Mellum Nina found all of them. She's Australian, beautifully put together, and just unusual enough to make me completely forget that I supposedly don't need any more dahlias.

We all know how that story ends.

Rooted cuttings ship April 1 – May 15 via UPS 2nd Day Air. Orders are shipped when plants are ready and weather conditions are appropriate for safe travel. Because of the volume of orders we process during shipping season, orders cannot be combined. You’ll receive tracking information when your order ships.

What You'll Receive

You’ll receive a healthy, actively growing rooted dahlia cutting that has been professionally propagated and grown by Dapper Dahlias By Moose.

Once fully rooted, the plant is removed from its growing container with the rooted propagation plug intact, then carefully bagged and packed for shipping. Your cutting will arrive ready to be potted up or planted after appropriate acclimation.

Because these are live plants, size and appearance will naturally vary from plant to plant.

When your cutting arrives, open the package promptly and inspect the plant. Any concerns with your order must be reported within 3 days of delivery and include photos.

Rooted cuttings have been grown in protected greenhouse conditions and will need to be gradually acclimated to outdoor conditions before planting outside.
