Suitzus Julie Dahlia
Tiny flower. Big reputation. Suitzus Julie is a rare, award-winning Micro Waterlily dahlia featuring delicate lavender blooms measuring no more than 2 inches across. With its unusual flower form and impressive American Dahlia Society exhibition record, this little beauty proves that you don't have to be the biggest flower in the garden to steal the show.
Full Description
Some dahlias demand attention with dinner-plate-sized flowers. Suitzus Julie takes the opposite approach, producing tiny, elegant lavender blooms that have earned an impressive reputation among serious dahlia exhibitors.
Classified by the American Dahlia Society as a Micro Waterlily (MWL), classification 7408, Suitzus Julie belongs to one of the most unusual groups in the dahlia world.
Its flowers measure no more than 2 inches across, displaying the graceful, open appearance associated with Waterlily dahlias, but on a remarkably miniature scale. The soft lavender coloring adds to their delicate charm, creating flowers that look almost too perfect to be real.
Don't mistake that small size for a lack of substance, though.
Suitzus Julie has earned significant recognition on the exhibition bench. It ranked 26th in the American Dahlia Society's 2025 Fabulous 50, a national recognition of outstanding exhibition performance. It has also appeared repeatedly in ADS show reports and Cream of the Crop results.
That's quite an accomplishment for a flower small enough to make most dinner-plate dahlias look like they're showing off.
The Micro Waterlily classification is particularly uncommon. While standard Waterlily dahlias are familiar favorites, Micro Waterlilies are represented by very few recognized cultivars. That makes Suitzus Julie especially interesting to collectors and gardeners who enjoy growing something outside the ordinary.
For floral arrangements, its tiny lavender flowers offer potential as delicate accents in smaller designs. However, its documented strengths lie primarily in its unusual form and exhibition performance rather than proven commercial cut-flower productivity.
Whether you're building a collection of unusual dahlias, competing on the exhibition bench, or simply looking for a flower that makes people stop and look twice, Suitzus Julie offers something genuinely different.
And sometimes different is exactly what makes a dahlia special.

Moose's Take
I've always had a soft spot for the underdog.
Suitzus Julie is about as close as the dahlia world gets to a Chihuahua walking into a dog show full of Great Danes and taking home the trophy.
Here you've got a flower barely 2 inches across, surrounded by dahlias with blooms the size of dinner plates, and somehow this little lavender overachiever keeps winning ribbons.
I love that.
And the Micro Waterlily form is something you just don't see every day. It's delicate, unusual, and downright fascinating when you get up close.
Now, I wouldn't buy this one expecting enormous bouquets or wheelbarrows full of tubers. That's not what makes Suitzus Julie special.
You grow this one because you appreciate something rare, because you love the finer details, or because you want to show your gardening friends a dahlia they've probably never seen before.
Besides, anybody who's ever met a Chihuahua knows that being small has absolutely nothing to do with having a small personality.
