TGF Alien Silk

TGF Alien Silk Dahlia

Some dahlias have names that make you wonder what the breeder was thinking.

TGF Alien Silk sounds like something discovered aboard a spacecraft, carefully wrapped in tissue paper, and brought back to Earth because somebody thought it would look fabulous in a flower bed.

An American introduction attributed to Tall Grass Farms, TGF Alien Silk is listed as a pink Formal Decorative dahlia with blooms approximately 4–6 inches across.

Its Formal Decorative classification places it among dahlias known for their orderly, layered petals and full, rounded flower heads. Rather than relying on an unusual shape to make an impression, Alien Silk belongs to a class celebrated for symmetry and an abundance of petals.

Listed as a 2025 introduction, this is a relatively recent American selection and an interesting addition for gardeners collecting newer domestic varieties.

Moose's Take

Alien Silk sounds like the sort of thing NASA would confiscate.

Fortunately, the Moose operates under a different set of interplanetary gardening regulations.

If the aliens are growing pink dahlias, I say we welcome them.

Just don't let them near the tuber storage room.
