Vista Linda Dahlia
Some dahlias make an entrance with brilliant colors. Vista Linda takes a softer approach, and somehow manages to be just as unforgettable.
Vista Linda is a beautiful American-bred dahlia with an unusual combination of muted blush pink, soft lavender, and delicate pastel coloring. Its gently flowing petals give the flowers a romantic, almost watercolor appearance that sets this variety apart from more traditional decorative dahlias.
Bred by Jean and Ron Heeringa of Vista Dahlias in Washington State, Vista Linda is part of a distinctive collection of American dahlias developed through years of careful seedling selection.
The flowers are classified as Informal Decorative, with loose, wavy petals that sweep gracefully backward rather than forming the tightly organized layers typical of formal decorative varieties. That relaxed petal arrangement gives Vista Linda a wonderfully soft, natural appearance.
Blooms are generally reported at approximately 4 inches across, although some growers report flowers reaching 6 inches. The coloring is equally variable and interesting, ranging from delicate blush pink to muted lavender, sometimes with only the faintest suggestion of pink.
It's a subtle color combination that deserves a closer look.
Vista Linda is especially appealing for gardeners and floral designers who appreciate understated colors and unusual flower forms. Its gentle lavender and pink tones complement cream, champagne, dusty rose, and other pastel dahlias, while its flowing petals introduce a welcome contrast to more symmetrical flowers.
Plants typically reach approximately 3½–4 feet tall, making Vista Linda a manageable addition to the garden or cutting patch.
The story behind this variety adds another layer of appeal. Jean and Ron Heeringa developed their Vista dahlias in Whatcom County, Washington, selecting seedlings for interesting flower forms, distinctive colors, and garden appeal. Vista Linda carries on that legacy with a flower that feels both delicate and distinctive.
For anyone looking beyond the usual bright pinks, reds, and yellows, Vista Linda offers something refreshingly different.

Moose's Take
There's something about a dahlia with unusual coloring that gets my attention, and Vista Linda certainly qualifies.
Most dahlias seem determined to show off with the brightest colors they can produce. Vista Linda goes in an entirely different direction, combining muted lavender and blush pink with loose, flowing petals that give the flower a wonderfully relaxed appearance.
I particularly appreciate how different its flower form is from the more structured decorative dahlias. Those wavy petals give it personality, and the soft coloring makes it an interesting companion for all kinds of other varieties.
And I like the history behind it. Jean and Ron Heeringa developed a wonderful collection of Vista dahlias in Washington, and it's good to see those varieties continuing to find homes in gardens around the country.
Vista Linda is proof that a dahlia doesn't have to be loud to get noticed.
Apparently, nobody told her there's a competition for the brightest flower in the garden.
She's perfectly happy ignoring it.
For gardeners who love soft pastel colors, flowing petals, and distinctive American-bred dahlias, Vista Linda is a beautiful choice.
